The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) holds as the basis of its faith the belief that God endows every person with a measure of the same Divine Spirit. The gift of God’s presence and the light of God’s truth have been available to all people in all ages. Friends find this manifestation of God exemplified in Jesus of Nazareth. The Divine Spirit became so wholly Jesus' own that his teaching, example, and sacrificial life reveal the will of God to humanity.
Quakerism is both a shared faith and a way of life, based on shared experience and practice, rather than liturgy or forms of worship. We experience divine presence, power, and guidance in our worship and our daily lives. This, in turn, motivates and empowers our efforts to promote peace, justice, and equality.
Quakers can be found in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, Micronesia, and even the Middle East. Today, there are more than 360,000 Quakers worldwide. Africa has the highest concentration of Quakers with Kenya having the most Quakers of any individual country.
The About Quaker Faith Page has articles on the Quaker Faith, Diversity, Forms of Worship, the Testimonies, Theology, and Frequently Asked Questions.
